Krysiak’s practice examines the dynamic between fixed laws and continuous transformation, capturing how life maintains structure while constantly evolving. By focusing on cyclicity, continuity, and transience, he employs a rigorous, rule‑based system in which each painting emerges from the interdependence of its brushstrokes. Through this methodical approach, he reveals the tension between logic and unpredictability, framing order as a state of perpetual flux.

STATEMENT
Life is fundamentally neutral—devoid of intrinsic meaning—yet shaped by underlying principles that condition its unfolding. Through continuous transformation and the interplay of elements, life reveals a complex, systemic nature—rigid in structure, though fluid in expression. My work reflects this paradox: consistent principles govern the painting process, while the interdependence of brushstrokes guides the artwork—like life itself—toward a state of perpetual becoming.

I fill circular canvases with sequential brushstrokes of grey paint. The grey—perceived as neutral—makes visible only the painting process itself. This practice demands sustained concentration and precise adaptation to the irregularities of each stroke. Every deviation influences the direction of subsequent brushstrokes, creating a cascading effect where minor shifts accumulate into systemic transformations that defy prediction. Hand instability, distractions, and fatigue become inseparable from the work's development—seemingly insignificant factors that irrevocably reshape its course.

Each painting is titled with its start and end dates, and the number of brushstrokes applied—a neutral record of its material evolution, free from any imposed narrative.
